If you have crooked teeth but want a straighter, more attractive smile, you have three options:
- Traditional braces
- Porcelain veneers
- Invisible braces
Traditional braces are the most well-known option. They can be uncomfortable due to their metal wires and brackets, and they need up to three years to be effective.
Porcelain veneers don’t actually straighten the teeth. They are thin coverings bonded over the teeth that can make them look straight. The most expensive option, they do have an extra benefit by covering any other defects in the teeth, and because they are fast, only taking two appointments to place.
For many people, their preferred path to a beautiful smile is invisible clear aligners, such as Invisalign or another brand of clear aligners.
Invisalign versus ClearCorrect
Dr. Kaur prefers ClearCorrect invisible braces to Invisalign. ClearCorrect offers her more control over the treatment program so she can make adjustments if needed. ClearCorrect is also less expensive than Invisalign and offers enhanced support for dentists through study groups.
ClearCorrect invisible braces are undetectable at a conversational distance, so friends and coworkers won’t even know you’re wearing them. They’re made of thin but durable tri-layer ClearQuartz plastic that resists stains. Their elastomeric inner layer applies consistent gentle pressure, closing gaps and alleviating crowding and poor occlusion. Correcting your teeth alignment isn’t just good for your smile–it also helps prevent the long-term damage caused by malocclusion, such as erosion of tooth enamel.
ClearCorrect Treatment
Treatment with ClearCorrect requires a series of visits. At your first appointment, we will examine your teeth to make sure they are healthy enough for invisible braces. Then, using an optical scanner, we will take digital impressions of your mouth. The lab will use the impressions to make your custom invisible aligners.
You’ll wear each set of custom aligners for two weeks. As you progress through the sets, your teeth will get straighter a bit at a time. When you put in a new set of aligners, you’ll notice light pressure, as though the aligners don’t quite fit. In a few days, the aligners will become more comfortable as your teeth move to new positions. The new positions will stabilize for another week. Then, it will be time to switch to the next set of aligners. The full process can take from a few months to a year, depending on how much your teeth need to move. You’ll come to our office for regular check-ins so we can monitor your progress.
