Parents want their children to get quality care which gives them positive experiences. That’s especially true with dental care. Most adults who avoid the dentist can trace it back to a bad experience in childhood.
Dr. Kaur, a mother herself, understands the need for your children to enjoy their dental visit. Though not a pediatric specialist, she’s a general dentist qualified to treat children. In fact, she loves treating them.
Making Pediatric Dental Care Fun
From the moment they walk in the door, they’ll recognize they’re wanted. We have a playroom for them so they don’t get anxious. We also have books, a treasure chest, and tons of teddy bears. The exam itself will have lots of laughter and singing. Though, in all honesty, Dr. Kaur’s been known to sing to the adult patients too.
Her preference is to see patients after their first tooth erupts. That’s usually somewhere between six months and one year old. That’s the easiest way to help children love the dentist. Many parents think because their children are young they’re at little risk for decay. Dr. Kaur likes it that way because that helps establish a pattern of fun dental visits. Besides, very young children can indeed have dental problems.
What you don’t want to happen is to wait until there is a problem. Then their first experience with the dentist will always be associated with pain. Going before there’s a problem, from an early age, makes it something fun to look forward to.
